Biography

Dr. Armara Macimilliam Galwab is a Rangeland specialist with specialization and experience of over 15 years in Dryland Ecosystems Analyses; rural development, food security, and climate change. He is currently the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Public Service and Administration at the County Government of Marsabit. He has vast working experience, having worked in private and public sectors in the field of governance and dryland policy formulation. Endowed with Knowledge management for effective organizational learning and enhanced Programming, Dr. Galwab has proactive networking skills with the ability to establish and maintain useful linkages with strategic partners.

About Dr. Armara Galwab

Dr. Galwab is an accomplished and results-oriented professional with success in advising on dryland resource management, climate change, and rural development. He is credited with a Ph.D. in Dryland resource management and a Master of Science in climate change from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and a second Master of Science degree in Agriculture and rural development from Kenya Methodist University. Dr. Galwab possesses over 15 years of strong experience in rural development, climate change, pastoral livelihoods and dryland policies, planning, performance evaluation of projects in the field of food security and livelihoods, and capacity building. While working with World Vision, Millenium Water Alliance, Food for the Hungry, and the County Government of Marsabit, Dr. Galwab has immersed experience in methodologies and approaches to Peace Building and Conflict Transformation. He is skilled in advising donors and government agencies on climate change adaptation/mitigation, food security and livelihoods, management of dryland resources, environmental, and social considerations in livestock development, and humanitarian projects in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs). Dr. Galwab is an innovative thinker and a skilled communicator, adept at building relationships and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals. He possesses a global perspective, experienced in working in the indigenous peoples’ territories and social development sectors in Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda. Endowed with Knowledge management for effective organizational learning and enhanced Programming, Dr. Galwab has proactive networking skills with the ability to establish and maintain useful linkages with strategic partners.
